Choeng Doi Suthep Wildlife Conservation Development and Extension
Choeng Doi Suthep Wildlife is a good place for nature and animal lovers. It’s a little known and infrequent place, yet very close to CMU, just behind Wat Umong. You can observe a lot of animals, some are in cages, but the vast majority are totally free. There is also a hike inside. Entrance is free, you just have to write your name and sign. Tweechol Botanical Garden
Tweechol Botanical Garden is a park at 25 minutes in the northeast of Chiang Mai. It is a very large botanical garden, can attend, but very beautiful. In addition to the garden, there is a museum, swimming pool, maze, zoo, pedal boat and other activities. Mae Wang National Park
Mae Wang National Park is located 1 hour drive from Chiang Mai, near Doi Inthanon. Mae Wang National Park In this park, you can see beautiful rock formations, a reservoir, go camping, go to a waterfall and cave and see elephants. Unfortunately most of the activities are currently closed. In January 2023 only the Phachor rock formation site and the campsite are open. If you are interested in other activities, consider looking at the park’s Facebook page or contacting them directly before going there. There is a viewpoint at the 1st parking lot, then you will have to take a short hike in a “canion” to reach the site. View Point Viewpoint at the start of the path for Phachor. Camping There is also a campsite just next to the reservoir. The campsite is deserted, few people camp there, so if you like calm, it’s great. The campsite building is new, they serve coffee, tea and other beverages and canned noodle dishes. Buddha’s Footprint Trail and Doi Pa Klong Viewpoint
A 9km hike, around 2.5 or 3 hours rather simple in the middle of nature. Hiking The hike start at Hmong Doi Pui Village and go to Doi Pa Klong Viewpoint. It takes around 1h20 to reach the top. The hike is straightforward, only the last 20 minutes are more difficult as it’s uphill. It’s not a loop, so you have to come back the same way for a total duration of 2h30 or 3 hours. Dong Yen Wood
A calm and peaceful place for nature lovers, close to “Doi Saket Hot Spring”. It appears to be an abandoned Buddhist complex. There are many beautiful and old trees as well as birds.
